Tentacle claws are a type of enemy that appears in Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. They emerge from the corrupt bubbles formed by Polokus's nightmares.

Description

While they both have claws, there are two different types of this enemy. One has long spindly dark-blue arms and claws. It appears in the Jibberish Jungle, Teensies in Trouble, and Toad Story, along with many levels from the Sea of Serendipity. Most of them will slowly reach for the heroes if they fall into a body of water nearby one, whereas the ones in the Sea of Serendipity are scared of the light, and will quickly reach for the heroes in dark areas, meaning they will need to stay in the light to avoid their claws. The other type has long light-blue arms and claws. It only appears in levels from the Sea of Serendipity, but these ones sprout from a bulb, and will attempt to grab the heroes regardless of the lighting conditions; these claws will reach for the heroes much slower than the dark-blue ones, meaning the heroes can escape them if they move quickly. Both types of claws have a different appearance in Rayman Legends, with the dark-blue one even being a different colour entirely.

In Rayman Origins

In Rayman Origins, while the heroes can swim through their arms without any damage, the claws at the end are lethal, and will begin to slowly move then ambush them if they get too close to them.

Dark-blue tentacle claws

The dark-blue claws, as their colour scheme and name suggest, could possibly be related to Darktoons; they are also invincible, they are afraid of the light and usually hide in dark swamps or abyssal areas. With the help of some underwater fireflies, an anglerfish, or some luminous fish, the heroes can protect themselves from the attack of the tentacle claws in the Sea of Serendipity and the Angsty Abyss.

Light-blue tentacle claws

The light-blue claws appear in Beware of Mini-Murray, and they will attempt to reach for the heroes, even if they are in the light. Unlike the dark-blue variant, these ones can be defeated if the heroes attack the bulb in which they sprout from.

In Rayman Legends

In Rayman Legends, their appearance has drastically changed. Another version of the tentacle claw appears as a long body with a large eye with a red pupil covered with spikes, and has a mouth filled with sharp teeth. Tentacles can sport between one to four arms, and are usually found in water areas.

The dark-blue tentacle claws

The dark-blue claws are now brownish-green, sporting an eye on the palms of their hands, the arms are connected to a large body with a gaping mouth, and have spikes, meaning that the heroes cannot swim through them without getting hit. Sometimes Murfy will need to poke the eye of a tentacle claw to allow the heroes to advance. They appear in Teensies In Trouble, the first level of Toad Story and the Back to Origins painting, where they will slowly follow the heroes if they get too close, and if close enough, their hand and eye will open wide, then they will lunge at the heroes. If they successfully catch the heroes, they will drag them to their mouth and swallow them, bubblizing them. The other version only appears in Once upon a Time and Ropes Course, where Murfy is required to poke its eye in order for the player to advance.

The light-blue tentacle claws

These ones once again appear in Beware of Mini-Murray, and despite having a different appearance with a large eye, they react exactly the same as they did in Rayman Origins.
