Assassin Ray is one of the playable characters in Rayman Legends and its remake, Rayman Adventures and Rayman Mini, and one of the characters based on Rayman's animated model.

Description

Assassin Ray shares the same look as Rayman, however, he wears Edward Kenway's robes from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. In the PlayStation 4 and Switch versions of Rayman Legends, his model has been updated to feature yellow hair, which carries over to Rayman Adventures and Rayman Mini. His orange hair from the PlayStation 3 version is carried over to his appearance in Rayman Legends Retold.

In Rayman Legends

The dream of this young pirate is to become part of the famous Assassins' Brotherhood. But they never let him in: maybe because his nose always stands out from his hood...
—In-game description, Rayman Legends, Rayman Adventures, Rayman Mini

In the PlayStation 3 version of Rayman Legends, Assassin Ray could only be obtained using a special code, which was given to players who pre-ordered the game from GameStop in the US, or Game in the UK. In the PlayStation 4 version, he can be unlocked by collecting 9 000 Lums. In Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition (the Nintendo Switch version), he is unlocked by default.

In Rayman Adventures

In Rayman Adventures, Assassin Ray can be bought through the Starter Pack, the Essentials Pack, the Assassin Pack, and the Ubisoft Megapack, which can only be bought with real world currency.

In Rayman Mini

In Rayman Mini, Assassin Ray is unlocked for 19 Electoons.

In Rayman Legends Retold

Assassin Ray is set to return in Rayman Legends Retold, reprising his role as a skin. Notably, his hair color is orange like in the PlayStation 3 version of Rayman Legends rather than the yellow color from his later appearances.

Trivia

  • Assassin Ray’s fingerless gloves and shoes are reused for Rayman’s adventurer costume in Rayman Adventures.
  • Assassin Ray was the first skin from Rayman Legends to be revealed in Rayman Legends Retold. This was likely done to promote the release of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the game that the character is based on.
