The Chief is a character that would've appeared in the 2D version of Rayman 2 had it not been cancelled. His appearance is similar to that of the General from the final Rayman 2 release.
Description
The Chief is a blue-ish coloured limbless robot with a strange looking orb-like circle on his body. In promotional photos he can be seen with a cigar hanging from his mouth. He also seems to wear a visor with a small orange beam over his eyes.
In the cancelled 2D version of Rayman 2
The Chief, as supported by a promotional video and photos, was intended to be the main villain of the 2D game. With his other robot servants, he was going to convert the Glade of Dreams into a cold ball of metal. In an artwork piece, it shows the Chief on a wrecking ball giving orders to his robot servants while Rayman is sneaking. This concept is similar to Admiral Razorbeard and his Robo-Pirate army in the final game, the former who was presumably the replacement for the Chief as the main villain.

Relationship with the General
Main article: the General
The General, a minor character featured in Rayman 2, has a very similar look to the Chief. It is possible that the General is actually the Chief with a different look, or he is only an inspiration from the Chief. The General's role in Rayman 2 is very small, as he only appears in a short cutscene with Admiral Razorbeard. This is compared to the Chief's projected role, as he would've been either a prominent character or the main villain that Rayman had to defeat.
