Slapping is a catch-all term for basic attacks in the Rayman games that use the UbiArt engine. In those games, the heroes have the ability to strike enemies, objects, or each other with close-range attacks. Rayman can attack with punches and kicks, Globox uses slaps and kicks, the Teensies cast magic spells to fight, and Barbara utilizes her battle axe. These attacks can be charged to reach farther and knock their targets further away, but they deal the same amount of damage. Slapping while running makes the hero perform a spinning attack that gives the hero a speed boost, which is handy for speed challenges.

In Rayman Origins

Slapping is introduced in Rayman Origins, replacing the telescopic fist as the primary form of offense. When the heroes free Betilla in It's a Jungle Out There..., she grants them the power to attack. Almost every enemy in the game can be bubblized with a single slap, and a second slap can pop the bubble, defeating the enemy for good and granting the hero a few extra Lums. Objects like bulbs, gongs, and cages can also be interacted with by slapping them. When playing in multiplayer, the heroes can slap each other, a feature that was widely promoted in the game's marketing. This does not deal any damage to them, but it does knock them away, which can be used to knock them into hazards if the player was so inclined. Additionally, if a player slaps a bubblized hero, that hero is revived.

In Rayman Jungle Run

In Rayman Jungle Run, the player can perform slaps in the Punch, Potpourri, Pirate Ship, and Giant plant level packs by pressing a button. Certain in-game artwork shows Rayman using charged attacks on Lividstones, but since the player is constantly running, they can only perform running attacks and air attacks in this game.

In Rayman Legends

Slapping returns in Rayman Legends, where it works the same as it does in Rayman Origins. Notably, charged attacks, known as super punches in certain versions of this game, are the only way to launch the Dark Teensies into the strange red moon at the end of each world.

In Rayman Fiesta Run

The player can slap enemies in Rayman Fiesta Run after learning how to in the game's second world. Slapping works the same as it did in Rayman Jungle Run.

In Rayman Adventures

Slapping returns in Rayman Adventures, where it functions the same as in the other mobile spin-offs. Unlike in Rayman Jungle Run and Rayman Fiesta Run, there is not a button that is used for slapping; instead, swiping to the right (or the left if the hero is faced that way) makes the hero perform an attack.

In Rayman Mini

In Rayman Mini, slapping works the same as how it did in the previous mobile spin-offs. The method of performing a slap is similar to that of Rayman Adventures, using the screen instead of a button to attack. However, now the player just needs to tap the right side of the screen (or the left side if the hero is running in that direction) to attack. The player first learns to attack in the aptly named level Punching and kicking, the third level of the River Stream, and they can attack in every level after completing that one.

In Rayman: The Board Game

Slapping returns in Rayman: The Board Game, where it appears as one of the many Actions that can be performed. Just like in the other games, using slaps allows the player to defeat enemies, free Teensies, and knock away other players. They can use extra slaps to hit targets from a distance. However, unlike in those games, players have a finite amount of slaps that are determined by their Action and Bonus cards.
