Hi-Ho Moskito! is the eighth and last level of the Jibberish Jungle, the first world in Rayman Origins. It acts as a transition between the Jibberish Jungle and the Desert of Dijiridoos, in a similar way to the first part of Bongo Hills in the PC version and its ports of the original Rayman game. This level contains the first boss of this game, the Boss Bird (also called the Guardian of the Music World), a gigantic yellow bird guarding the entrance to the Desert of Dijiridoos. This level is the second one from the world that appears in the Back to Origins mode in Rayman Legends.

Original version

After hearing the Magician talk about collecting Electoons, the team of heroes find and climb onto mosquitoes, and begin to fly high over the jungle and must deal with small flies and large flies. A bit farther into the level, they enter a cave and must deal with hunters shooting missiles and Lividstones with spiky protective hats. After a while of constantly fighting the enemies, they leave the cave and must then face more missiles.

Right after that, the transition between worlds is finished, as the team on their mosquitoes start flying into the new world, the Desert of Dijiridoos. Here, strange thin objects can be seen coming through the clouds below. The heroes must face helicopter bombs here, for an unplanned practice for the mosquitoes to inhale the bombs and use them as an attack. After that, they must fight the Boss Bird. To defeat it, the mosquitoes need to inhale helicopter bombs and shoot them back at Boss Bird, one at a time. Once enough helicopter bombs explode on Boss Bird, it becomes deflated and flies away. The team can now get off their mosquitoes as they reach the end of the room, to be able to go through a door, and break an Electoon cage to finish the level. Then the team poses on a photoboard, while the Magician waits to see how many Lums that were collected in the level.

In the Back to Origins version, there are not many differences between the original version; except of the notable elements from Rayman Legends replacing some of the elements from the game.

Trivia

  • The level’s name may be a pun on The Lone Ranger's phrase, "Hi-Yo, Silver!".
  • It is possible in this level to reach the maximum score, which is 999 Lums. To reach it, the player will have to keep inhaling helicopter bombs and shooting them at the wall, not at Boss Bird. Each helicopter bomb earns 2 Lums, so it will take quite a while for the player to reach that number. This is the only level in the game that is possible to reach the maximum number.
  • On an early sketch, this level was supposed to have Hunter Birds as enemies; however, the concept was scrapped.
